Purpose of the role

BAO Systems is looking for a Technical Analyst & Scrum Master to support software development teams working for a high profile $7 billion per year, multi-agency, multi-team program working on large US Government international public health projects.  The team develops software and solutions using JavaScript (REACT), Python, and SQL on AWS architecture to support our data collection and data infrastructure teams. This position works closely with product owners and managers, technical leads and external stakeholders to ensure proper requirements management and agile best practices result in quality delivery. 

 

The ideal candidate will work with customers and stakeholders, performing discovery and analysis across multiple business initiatives.  They will be comfortable working as part of a software development team, documenting requirements with a clear, standards-based methodology.  As Scrum Master you will help the team agree on what they can achieve during each development sprint. In addition to coordinating and facilitating all scrum ceremonies necessary to continuously make progress against the product roadmap, you will play an integral role in establishing new Agile best practices.The ideal candidate will be comfortable documenting tasks in GitHub, Jira or Confluence and summarizing tasks in quoting sessions, and assisting with functional testing of deployed features.

Core job responsibilities

  • Interact directly with clients and stakeholders on the Federal and Consulting side
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of business processes across multiple systems and teams
  • Develop tasks, test plans, technical requirements, and technical documentation that is clear and understandable by team members, clients, and stakeholders
  • Lead the team in scrum ceremonies, summarizing, explaining, and clarifying requirements as needed
  • Guide the team and organization on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values.
  • Build a culture that empowers developers to select and complete their own tasks.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders, improving transparency, and disseminating information about product health.
  • Assist the product owner and product manager in curating and prioritizing the product backlog
  • Work with team members and the product owner and manager to identify, document, and communicate risks

Required skills/experience

  • 3+ years of hands on technical experience with a systems, software or product team
  • BS degree in a technology-related field or equivalent experience
  • A proven ability to understand technical blockers and how to resolve them
  • Knowledge of iterative/Agile software development methodologies
  • Willingness to help coordinate between client delivery leads & technical leads
  • Previous work experience acting as an Analyst and/or Scrum Master for software development teams
  • Desired- experience with cloud-based and web-based systems 
  • Desired- familiarity with Atlassian Jira & Confluence or other Agile & requirements management tools
