Purpose of the Role

This position is contingent on contract award.

BAO Systems is looking for an experienced Linux Systems Administrator to join our Federal Services Team in Washington, D.C. The Systems Administrator supports large US Government international public health projects, more specifically, supporting a high profile $5B per year, multi-agency, multi-team program working in tandem with other federal contracting firms. Our Systems Administrators manage the day-to-day operations of our hosted applications on Linux environments within AWS. We are fans of shell scripting, github, automation and repeatability. We are always open to using new tools. Candidates for this role will be comfortable with command line only access to numerous servers.  Experience with automation, recovery, and monitoring are essential. Admins also help support build and deployment management to ensure smooth operation. We have assembled our own set of tools we use to manage our fleet.

Core Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Setting up and maintaining development, testing and production servers
  • Deploying updates to production environments
  • Working directly with clients to establish process and deployment procedures
  • Configuring and securing servers
  • Writing and maintaining utility scripts
  • Communicating directly with clients and partners about potential opportunities for improvement and potential risks
  • Creating and updating documentation

Required Qualifications

  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • 5 Years of experience supporting Information Technology
  • 3+ years of strong Linux administration skills
  • 2 years working with cloud hosting providers like AWS, Azure, Google Cloud 
  • Experience implementing MFA, Single Sign-on or Single Password solutions utilizing Azure/ Microsoft Active Directory, LDAP or SAML 2.0
  • Ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced, demanding, and sometimes unstructured environment
  • Experience working remotely with global teams
  • Must be authorized to work in the US
  • Ability to obtain a Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • FISMA compliance experience highly desired
  • DHIS2 (or other Health Information System) implementation experience highly desired
  • Windows administration skills
  • Python or Bash scripting (from scratch) experience
  • Experience as Application and/or System Administrator for Jira and Confluence
  • Experience with ZenDesk and Docker
  • Experience with automation software like Ansible or scripting
  • Eagerness to learn
  • RESTful state API experience
  • FedRAMP, HIPAA or GovCloud Experience
  • Writing CloudFormation Templates, setting up DR on AWS, IAM, and ability to navigate RDS
